About Us

The Area V Agency on Aging located in Pocatello is one of six Area Agencies in Idaho. It is part of a nationwide aging network created through the Older Americans Act. Each of the Area Agencies has a volunteer commissioner appointed by the governor through the Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA). Our commissioner is Sharon D. Sturm of Blackfoot, Idaho. The focus of the Area Agency on Aging is on helping people stay independent and contributing members of their communities. We offer an array of services, including Adult Protection, Advocacy services, and Veterans Directed- Home and Community Based services in our seven county area.

Mission & Values

Our mission is to work in partnership with older adults, families and the community to secure information and services that maximize independence and quality of life. We value the community support that helps seniors stay in their home, caregivers who make a difference, volunteers who give, so our community can be a better place to live, safety and autonomy, consumer choice, and partners that help us make it all work. For more information, see a copy of our 4 year Area Plan.

The Area V Agency on Aging receives both federal funding through the Administration of Community Living and state funding from the Idaho Legislature (State Senior Services). These funds are distributed through the Idaho Commission on Aging (ICOA) which is the State Unit on Aging in Boise.
