Transportation Programs at SICOG

SICOG is committed to improving mobility, safety, and access to transportation throughout Southeast Idaho. Our transportation programs support individuals, families, and communities through strategic partnerships, education, and planning.

Pocatello Regional Transit (PRT) – Mobility Management & Outreach

SICOG collaborates with Pocatello Regional Transit (PRT) to enhance public transportation options across our service area. Our Mobility Management program focuses on:
  • Travel Training: Teaching riders how to confidently use public transit, including route planning, bus etiquette, and accessibility features.
  • Outreach and Education: Connecting with communities through presentations, printed materials, and events to raise awareness about available transportation services.
  • Support for Agencies and Partners: Helping schools, service providers, and local governments support their clients with transit education and coordination.
  • Regional Coordination: Working with stakeholders to identify transportation needs and improve connectivity for underserved populations, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income residents.
These services ensure that public transportation is accessible, understandable, and responsive to community needs.

Safe Routes to School (SRTS)

SICOG also leads the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program for our region, focused on making it safer and easier for students to walk and bike to school. Our work includes:
  • Community and School Partnerships: Collaborating with school districts and municipalities to assess needs and develop action plans.
  • Safety Education: Offering walk/bike safety instruction, walk-to-school events, and bike rodeos to encourage active, informed travel.
  • Planning and Grant Assistance: Helping communities secure funding for infrastructure improvements like sidewalks, crossings, and signage.
SRTS enhances student safety, promotes physical activity, and builds stronger connections between schools and neighborhoods.
